He’s bringing sexy back – to the golf course!

That’s the kind of entertainment writing you can expect as we get closer to Oct. 13 and the inaugural Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. The ESPYs host and occasional pop icon is taking over what used to be the Las Vegas Invitational, then went through a series of sponsorship-related name changes that would make NASCAR blush.

Timberlake’s presence at TPC Summerlin – which will include a concert performance as well as a celebrity pro-am – will surely bring added attention and revenue to the Shriners cause. He’ll also join an esteemed list of celebrity PGA hosts that includes Frank Sinatra himself.

He might even lure a stronger field of golfers to this year’s event. The last name of note to win at Las Vegas was Stuart Appleby in 2003. Otherwise, given his reported 6-handicap, maybe Timberlake should play in the Open itself and not the pro-am.

Most porn stars spend time in Vegas. All the porn conventions are in Sin City and the industry itself has many companies based out of Vegas. Ron Jeremy is a regular about town, and has even promoted gaming-related businesses like the now-defunct online poker room Naked Poker. Jeremy is a tireless worker, but I guess any guy would be in that business.

Tera Patrick has recently entered a partnership with Hard Rock. She will appear as a hostess at their tenant nightclubs. And 40 Deuce at Mandalay Bay had her as a guest burlesque dancer. They will also open the Tera Patrick’s Gaming Pit on the main floor of the casino. The dealers will be called Hell’s Belles.

Nightclubs like Jet or Laxx will host porn-related parties for new movie releases or porn conventions. Most Vegas clubs run promotions, like bikini contests, with porn stars as the attraction.

A long weekend is a favorite time for celebrities to head to Vegas to celebrate. The July 4th holiday is one of the biggest parties of the year in town, and every casino and nightclub hosts big parties for the rich and famous. It’s one of the best opportunities of the year to go star searching, because numerous celebrities flock to the city.

The holiday, combined with the main event of the WSOP, fills the Palms Hotel with television, movie and sports celebrities. The best place to find celebrities is around the Rio during the day, and in the hottest night clubs at night, like VooDoo Lounge, Prive and Blush.

A lot of the younger stars stay at the Palms, and can be seen around the pools, usually in private cabanas. The Poker Lifestyle Show usually boasts a lot of famous people either promoting a product of theirs or playing in a poker tournament.

The questionable health of six-time Grammy winning singer Toni Braxton is still a concern, and she has cancelled her April dates for Las Vegas. She is due to resume her show at the Flamingo Showroom on May 6, but not until more tests have been completed on her heart. She was hospitalized on April 7th for chest pain, and has been treated in the past for pericarditis, a viral inflammation of the heart. The exact cause of Braxton’s chest pain has not been made public.

The Flamingo is offering refunds for the cancelled shows. The 40-year-old singer has not been doing her show for a full year yet, replacing Wayne Newton as the headliner at the Flamingo hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip last August. Braxton has been a big hit on the Strip since she began last year, and we all wish her a speedy and complete recovery.

Las Vegas has become very popular with the young Hollywood celebrities these days. The hottest celebs frequent the nightspots of the city on a regular basis, making it difficult for the regular people to enjoy the club scene. Regular people have to pay big VIP fees to ensure that they get into one of the clubs that celebrities frequent. With the celebs present, the prices of private rooms and even the regular cover charge can be ridiculous. Instead of having fun in the nightclub, we’re standing in lines with the paparazzi.

Some nights a celeb will rent out the entire bar for a private party and you won’t be able to get in no matter how much you’re willing to pay. Regular folk are second-class citizens when celebrities are present, and they must wait until the privileged get first crack at whatever is supposedly being offered to everyone.

1. The Palms has three hopping nightclubs and lots of Hollywood types floating around for great memories. The luxurious suites make for great private bachelorette parties.

2. The Venetian has the best shows for the start of the bachelorette party, and the Tao Nightclub for the later stages of the party.

3. The Mirage has a great pool and the rooms are top-notch. There are a few good bars and one really good nightclub called Jet. Hollywood types frequent Jet too.

4. MGM has great deals compared to most large casino resorts. It also has a killer pool and great bars, the rooms are good and the atmosphere is always upbeat.

5. Treasure Island has bachelorette packages that handle all the details for you. The food and entertainment are very good, and the bars and nightclub are usually packed. Ask about their special rates for large parties and let the fun begin.
